He was a member of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) and achieved the rank of Life Master. He played bridge all over the United States and in other countries. He would teach bridge to anyone who was willing to learn. Nugent’s passions were teaching and bridge. He taught as a professor of computer engineering at San Jose State University from 1962 to 1997. He went all over the world during the Atomic Era. ![]() He moved to Livermore in 1956 and worked for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1956 to 1980. Nugent served in the ROTC, Army and National Guard reserves from 1952 to 1959. He received a master’s degree from San Jose State University. Nugent was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended Immaculate Conception Elementary, where he was a mathlete champion, Holy Trinity High School, and graduated from City College of New York with a degree in electrical engineering. ![]()
